Brake Pads vs. Brake Rotors
Brake rotors and brake pads both play a major role when it comes to stopping your vehicle. But have you ever wondered what the difference is between them? Brake pads are made of softer materials, and rotors are made from hard materials. Typically, you will need to replace your brake pads more often because they are less dense.

If your vehicle uses disc brakes, the rotors are the discs themselves. The rotors are located on the inside of each of your wheels, and the spin at the same pace as your wheels. When you press down on the brakes, your pads will squeeze around the rotors, helping your vehicle stop.

Brake pads are attached to the calipers. They face the disc brake rotors and close when you apply the brakes. The friction is what makes your BMW X1 or BMW 4 Series come to a complete stop.
